Eco Bazaars

Since our inception in March 2008, we’ve organised two eco bazaars at Raffles City. There’ll be more to come. We will keep you posted when we have the next one. In the meantime, if you’re interested in the eco-friendly brands which took part in the last two events, just click below:

Earth Day - 22 April 2008

Responding to widespread environmental degradation, Gaylord Nelson, a US Senator from Wisconsin, called for an environmental ‘teach-in’ or Earth Day, to be held on 22 April 1970. Over 20 million people participated that year, and Earth Day is now observed each year on 22 April by more than 500 million people and national governments in 175 countries. World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
The World Environment Day slogan for 2008 is Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Recognising that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era, UNEP is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them. The World Environment Day will highlight resources and initiatives that promote low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption.
The main international celebrations of World Environment Day 2008 will be held in New Zealand. UNEP is honoured that the city of Wellington will be hosting this United Nations day. (taken from http://www.unep.org/wed/2008/english/
